Timber decking is the perfect solution if you have difficult garden with slopes, large descents, uneven surfaces or if you want to carry your floor level out to your entertaining area. In determining your ideal timber decking design, consider the types and colours of timber available to suit your project.
There are two types of timber for outdoor decking, hardwood or soft wood.
Harwood is the preferred timber to use for timber decking as it is stronger and more durable so it will last longer.
Some types of hard wood to use for outdoor decking and timber decking are Spotted Gum, Red Iron Bark, Bluegum, Merbau and Yellow Stringy Bark.
It is recommended that staining or oiling your timber deck will ensure the longevity of the timber.
